Starting on Dogust 1 through the end of National Dog Week (August 1 - September 26), candidates and community members will be collecting donations for select animal shelters.

Across Lorain and Huron Counties, pet shelters and rescue services face high animal intake volumes, serve vulnerable animal populations, and struggle to meet community assistance demands while under physical capacity constraints.

During times of rising costs, shelters have fewer adoptions and increases in surrendered and abandoned animals with shortages in resources like space, food and financial contributions.

Democratic candidates are meeting voters daily in Lorain and Huron Counties in Ohio. At certain community events, they will be passing out DemsForDogs bandanas. Stop by and share your concerns with candidates and they’ll place a bandana on your dog.
